Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD) is a complex neurological condition. Why Learning About ADHD is Important?

ADHD is complex! Although a lot of research has been done over the last two decades, there is still much we do not know. There is still no single definitive test for ADHD (CDC). Despite how much we do not know, there are tons of videos on social media on the topic. Although some of the videos are good and provide valuable information, they are not reviewed for credibility. As a result, many people are misinformed. For example, many people still believe that children outgrow ADHD, when in fact, plenty of people have adult ADHD. It is important to be well educated from credible sources.

Where to Learn about ADHD?

A few places to begin learning about ADHD are below:

  1. CHADD - An amazing company with tons of resources for ADHD.

  2. ADDitude Magazine - An online periodical that is approachable yet helpful.

  3. Russell Barkely, PhD. - Dr. Barkely is now retired, but considered by many as a leading expert in the field of ADHD. He has written several books and has contributed greatly to the field. Any of his works will be a great resource.
